Having grown up in the Northeast, I have lived and worked in Northamptonshire since 1984. A mother of three children, my working life was spent teaching in secondary education in Corby, starting as an English teacher and ending as a Headteacher before retiring in 2017. This was a role I found most fulfilling. Throughout this time, I advocated for the importance of opportunities for young people from all different backgrounds. As such, I am enthusiastic about maintaining high standards in education.

I am now enjoying my free time by travelling, reading and going to the gym. Wanting a new challenge, last year I completed the first half of a Masters in Criminal Justice at the Open University. I developed this interest as the course is based on psychology and sociology, and I was interested in utilising different learning styles with a real-world application, having before studied English Literature at Manchester University.  However, my plans have been put on pause for the moment as I have recently become a Nana, so I am enjoying spending lots of my time running around after my new Grandson!

My daughters, now in their mid-20s and early 30s respectively, were both successfully educated at Southfield school and greatly benefited from their time there. I know it is a school where students are encouraged to reach their full potential and I am therefore excited to become a member of Orbis Trust.
